Built around the industry-standard HD44780-equivalent LCD controller, this module is fully compatible with the popular Arduino LiquidCrystal library, as well as similar libraries available for ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, PIC, AVR, and Raspberry Pi. The module supports both 4-bit and 8-bit parallel interface modes. The 4-bit mode is most commonly used because it requires only 7 GPIO pins (compared to 11 pins in 8-bit mode), saving valuable I/O for other peripherals. Each character is rendered in a clear 5×8 dot-matrix grid, providing crisp text quality, and the controller supports 8 user-definable custom characters for icons, special symbols, or graphical elements.
