Out Of Stock

The SparkFun Air Quality PM1 / PM2.5 / PM10 Sensor is powered by Bosch’s BMV080, the world’s smallest particulate matter sensor. Using ultra-compact laser technology without a fan, it provides real-time PM measurements with exceptional accuracy. Featuring Qwiic connectivity, configurable I²C addresses, and optional SPI support, it is ideal for ultra-compact IoT and environmental monitoring applications.

Gas & Air Sensors

The SparkFun Qwiic Particulate Matter Sensor is built around Bosch’s BMV080, a breakthrough air quality sensor that redefines size and efficiency in particulate matter detection. Measuring just a few millimeters, the BMV080 is over 450 times smaller than traditional PM sensors, enabling accurate PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 monitoring in space-constrained designs.

Unlike conventional sensors that rely on fans, the BMV080 uses ultra-compact lasers with integrated photodiodes and advanced signal processing algorithms to directly measure particle concentration in free space. This fanless design significantly reduces size, noise, and mechanical wear while maintaining high measurement precision.

The breakout board houses the BMV080 sensor connected via a flexible PCB cable and a 13-pin FPC connector. A vertical Qwiic connector enables fast, solder-free integration with compatible microcontrollers, while 0.1-inch spaced pins allow traditional soldered or breadboard connections. Multiple jumper-selectable I²C addresses and optional SPI support make it easy to deploy multiple sensors on the same bus.

SparkFun provides a dedicated Arduino library to simplify setup and data acquisition. This sensor is ideal for smart homes, environmental monitoring, wearable devices, and ultra-compact IoT applications. Alerts can be added via LEDs, buzzers, or cloud-connected notifications when particulate levels exceed thresholds.

Note: This product is classified as a Class 1 Laser Product under IEC 60825-1:2014.
