The ACS712 20A Current Sensor Module is a compact and highly accurate current sensing solution designed for measuring both AC and DC electrical currents in electronic systems. The module is based on the reliable ACS712ELC-20A Hall-effect sensor chip, which provides isolated and non-intrusive current detection with excellent linearity and stability.
The sensor works by detecting the magnetic field generated by current flow through its integrated copper conduction path. It produces an analog voltage output that changes linearly according to the measured current. The output signal can be directly connected to analog input pins of Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi ADC modules, and other microcontrollers for monitoring and control applications.
Operating from a 5V DC power supply, the module measures currents ranging from -20A to +20A with a sensitivity of approximately 100mV per ampere. When no current is flowing, the output voltage remains at approximately VCC/2.
The board includes thick copper traces capable of handling high current loads and surviving temporary overcurrent conditions. It also features low noise output, minimal magnetic hysteresis, and factory-calibrated accuracy for dependable measurements.
Note: Although the ACS712 chip supports high electrical isolation internally, the breakout PCB itself is not designed for direct high-voltage isolation applications.
