It contains seven LED segments labeled A through G, arranged to form numeric digits by selectively illuminating specific segments. Many versions also include a decimal point (DP) for displaying decimal values.
The display uses a Common Anode configuration, where all LED anodes are connected together internally. To illuminate a segment, the corresponding cathode pin must be driven LOW while the common anode is connected to a positive voltage supply through an appropriate current-limiting resistor.
Its compact 0.36-inch digit height makes it suitable for applications where board space is limited while maintaining good visibility. The display can be directly interfaced with microcontrollers, driver ICs, counters, timers, and digital measurement systems.
