The 5A AC Current Sensor Module is a high-precision single-phase AC current measurement device designed to provide reliable and safe current sensing for embedded electronics, energy monitoring, and industrial control applications. It is built around a precision miniature current transformer with a 1000:1 turns ratio, which converts large AC primary currents into small, manageable secondary currents that are easy to measure with a microcontroller.

A major advantage of using a transformer-based current sensor is the galvanic isolation it provides between the high-voltage AC line and the low-voltage measurement circuit. This isolation is critical for operator safety and microcontroller protection, making the module suitable for mains-voltage applications without risk to the user or the connected electronics.

The module includes an onboard sampling resistor that converts the transformer's output current into a proportional voltage signal that can be read directly by any microcontroller's ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter). The relationship between input and output is 5A primary current → 5mA secondary current, meaning the module is precisely calibrated and linear within its rated range. The signal can be further amplified or conditioned externally to match the input range of your specific microcontroller.
