Water proof Ultrasonic Module

The JSN-SR04T Waterproof Ultrasonic Distance Sensor Module is a robust and reliable non-contact distance measurement solution specifically designed for use in outdoor, wet, humid, and harsh environments where standard ultrasonic sensors cannot operate. Unlike traditional sensors with exposed transducers, this module features a separate fully waterproof ultrasonic probe connected by a durable cable (typically around 2.5 meters long) to the main control board, allowing the probe to be safely mounted in exposed or submerged-spray locations while keeping the electronics protected.

The sensor works by emitting 40 KHz ultrasonic pulses and measuring the time it takes for the echo to return, allowing it to calculate distances with ±1 cm accuracy across a measurement range of 20 cm to 600 cm. It has a small blind zone of less than 20 cm, meaning it cannot detect objects extremely close to the probe.

Operating on a low 5V DC supply with a typical working current of just 30 mA (and only 5 mA in standby), the module is highly power-efficient and ideal for battery-powered and embedded systems. It uses a simple 4-pin interface (VCC, GND, Trigger, Echo) that follows the same communication protocol as the popular HC-SR04, making it a direct waterproof upgrade and fully compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, STM32, PIC, and other microcontrollers.

The probe carries an IP65–IP67 waterproof rating (depending on version), making it suitable for applications such as water tank and reservoir level monitoring, rainwater drainage systems, automotive parking and reversing sensors, agricultural irrigation, industrial automation, traffic control, and outdoor robotics.
