Control Boards & Drivers

The RAMPS 1.4 Controller Kit is a complete electronics bundle that brings together every essential component needed to build or upgrade a RepRap-based 3D printer. Instead of sourcing parts individually, this all-in-one kit provides a tested, compatible set of modules that work seamlessly together — saving you time, money, and compatibility headaches.

At the heart of the kit is the RAMPS 1.4 shield, which mounts onto the included Arduino Mega 2560 board. Together they form the central control system, capable of managing up to 5 stepper motors, 3 temperature sensors (thermistors), 6 endstop switches, 1 heated bed, 1 cooling fan, and 1 extruder — covering all the moving and thermal subsystems of a standard 3D printer.

Five A4988 stepper driver modules are included for controlling the X, Y, Z, and extruder axes, each paired with a dedicated heatsink to ensure stable operation under continuous load. The kit also features a 20x4 character LCD display with its RAMPS adapter board and two ribbon connector cables, enabling standalone printing without a computer — you can monitor temperatures, navigate menus, and start prints directly from an SD card.

A USB cable is provided for connecting the Arduino Mega to your computer for firmware uploads (such as Marlin or Repetier), and a complete jumper set is included for configuring microstepping resolution on the stepper drivers.

This kit is fully compatible with popular RepRap printer designs including the Prusa i3, Mendel, Kossel, and most DIY 3D printer frames.
